The Pros and Cons of Pursuing Higher Education

Ep 08: Season Finale

Thanks for tuning in to the final episode for S1 of the Cornbread and Cabernet podcast. What a bittersweet moment this is.

Have you ever thought about what life might be like if you were both willing and able to explore the degree program of your dreams? What if you chose to supplement that experience with out of classroom learning opportunities instead? In this episode, you’ll get to hear from Aleah and Brittany as they consider the pro’s and con’s of pursuing higher education or pursuing alternate forms of education.

Today we’re delighting ourselves in a 2018 Maniña Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the first Chilean we’ve featured and while Brittany’s palate is rather pleased with today’s beverage, Aleah’s got a different set of taste buds-and they are not impressed.

Social Media and Society

Ep 07: You cannot compete where you do not compare!

Well aren’t you a sight for sore eyes! Welcome back to another week at Cornbread and Cabernet. Let’s join Aleah and Brittany as they get into some healthy discourse about the different ways social media can affect our day-to-day. The conversation is well overdue and we’re sure you’ve got a few nods of agreement in store for us. What are your thoughts on this new #cucumberchallenge? If you ask us, we’d say we thought vegetables were for dining on.

On behalf of the infamous Hot Girl Summer, we’ve decided to trade in our usual red or white and go for bottomless mimosas instead. We’ve got the André Blush Pink Champagne paired with a traditional orange juice today-sans pulp. It’s no Sweet Tea, but we reckon it’ll do!

Things Men Say About Women

Ep 06: Here’s to Maya Angelou, an end to Gaslighting, and The Central Park Five.

Oh, how we’ve missed you! Today, Aleah and Brittany will read many for filth. Many includes the prosecutors from the Central Park Jogger case, our education system, those of us who have struggled with post-shift productivity, and MEN. We’ve got time today.

Pull up a chair and pour yourself a glass of Silk from Ménage à Trois. A soft red blend, Silk offers a combination of Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Petite Sirah. Consider it an even match between bitter and sweet, airy and full, refreshing and sultry.

Parents As Individuals

Ep 05: Here’s to our parents, Nola Darling, and minding your business!

As children, many of us grow up with the idea of our parents being superheros that weather every storm and hurdle with grace and perfection. The truth is, our parents were individuals before they became parents and maintain aspects of their individuality throughout parenthood. In this episode, Aleah and Brittany explore the implications of having unrealistic expectations for those who have raised us. Stay tuned for our theories on the size small swimsuit bandit. We’ve got Sutter Home Chardonnay on the palette today.

Have you taken time to binge watch Season 2 of She’s Gotta Have it? We sure have. Baby please, baby. Baby, baby, please!

Setting the Tone!

Ep 04: Stale fries, writer’s block, and boundaries. Also, See You Yesterday!

Come get into this Barefoot Riesling, y’all. It’s everything the label promises… and then some. In this episode, Aleah and Brittany discuss setting healthy boundaries, the Black Tax, why advice isn’t “one size fits all,” and the reason the food you’ve been thinking about all day won’t be in the fridge when you get home.

We hope you’ve all had a chance to watch See You Yesterday, the newest Spike Lee Joint to hit Netflix. [Spoiler alert!]

Ep 03: This is part two of a two part conversation

This Wednesday, Aleah and Brittany will continue discussing accountability, toxic “situationships,” perseverance, and making space for newness.

Now that most of us have had time to digest the Game of Thrones series finale, we’ll unpack our feelings in this episode as well. (We see you Robin Arryn! Really Arya?)

Ep 03: This is part one of a two part conversation

In the next two episodes, Cornbread and Cabernet Founders, Aleah and Brittany unpack pivotal experiences that have shaped who they’re becoming. This Wednesday and next, we’ll discuss relocation, letting go of who or what isn’t being of service, accountability, toxic “situationships,” and perseverance. This entire conversation served us in such an authentic and shameless way. We KNOW it’ll do the same for you.

This time around, our beverage of choice is a Pinot Grigio by Beringer. Also, can we talk about that Game of Thrones finale?
